Immediately after installation the System Insight graph may only show the Norton icon for the installation that just completed. The graph will display all downloads, installations, threat detections, and quick scan events that occur after your Norton product was installed.

On the main window, click Application Ratings to see the Norton Insight window.
On the Norton Insight window, click on the application file in the list that you are interested in.
On the File Insight window, click Activity then select Performance from the drop-down menu.

When your files are optimized, they are organized and rearranged on your hard drive so that your system starts and runs more efficiently. Norton periodically runs a background Optimize for you. Click Norton Tasks on the main window to see when all Norton background tasks have been run.

The Quick Scan Coverage Meter shows the percentage of trusted files as compared to the total number of files that are associated with running processes. The percentage the meter shows depends on how many trusted files are running on your system. Make sure you have Internet connectivity and click Refresh to see the current percentage. Norton will scan all the files that are not trusted on your system – and since we don’t need to scan the trusted files, your quick scan will be faster.

The Quick Scan Coverage Meter does not reflect all files present on your system, only the files that are associated with running processes.

Standard Trust includes files that have been validated by Symantec’s secure backend systems. High Trust also includes files that are signed with a certificate of authenticity, and the signature is validated against your computer’s certificate store.

Norton Community Usage shows how many people in the Norton Community use this file. This information may be useful if you are not sure about a file and need more information. In general, the more people in the community that use a file, the less likely it is that the file is infected. Norton may also use this information in determining the file’s safety.

The Trust Level shows what Norton thinks of this file. It is an indication on how trustworthy the file is.

This refers to the amount of CPU or Memory that this specific application file uses when running. A file with a High Impact rating indicates a process that may be affecting the overall performance of your PC because it is consuming larger amounts of resources, causing other processes to have to wait for resources of their own.

Download Insight works both on Internet Explorer 6.0 and above and Firefox 3.0 and above.

Both Norton Insight and Download Insight use the same reputation, cloud-based technology. Download Insight protects you at the moment you download a file from the Internet, while Norton Insight uses the backend intelligence to make your scans faster without compromising your computer’s security.

No, the file queries include only enough information to identify the file. No personally identifiable information is submitted to or stored by Symantec.
