Encryption

A process that ensures data security of files and folders on disk and during data transfer.

Provides additional security by encrypting backup data on the client. This capability is available only with the NetBackup Encryption option.

A process used to ensure data security of files and folders on disk and during data transfer.

A method of scrambling or encoding data to prevent unauthorized users from reading or tampering with the data. Only those who have access to a password or key can decrypt and use the data. The data can include messages, files, folders, or disks.

The use of an algorithm to convert typically sensitive data into a form that is unreadable except by authorized users. See also Communications Channel Encryption.
