Be Spooked Hoax

Be Spooked Hoax

Updated:
February 13, 2007

Various versions of an email hoax that is related to the September 11th attack on the World Trade Center have been reported. The most common version has the subject line: "Fw: This is spooky", but, as this is a hoax, any subject line may be seen.

The email instructs the recipient to:

Follow these instructions...
  1. Open up a blank Word document.
  2. Type in Q33 NY in capitals (this is the flight number of the 1st plane to hit the WTC)
  3. Highlight it.
  4. Change the font size to 48.
  5. Change the actual font to wingdings (1).
  6. Be spooked!!

If you follow the instructions, the text will change to symbols, and display an airplane, what appears to be two towers, a skull and crossbones, and a Star of David.

There was no Flight 33 involved in the recent World Trade Center terrorist attack. The combination of symbols is purely coincidental, and is designed to bring a feeling of unease. If someone forwards this message to you, please do not forward it, but simply delete it.Please ignore any messages regarding this hoax and do not pass on messages. Passing on messages about the hoax only serves to further propagate it.
