A registry cleaner is a type of program designed for cleaning the Windows registry. The Windows registry can become fragmented and cluttered over time, which can lead to performance problems. There are a number of legitimate programs available to clean the registry. There are also many misleading applications designed to mimic registry cleaners. Registry Cleaner is also the name of a particular type of misleading application designed to trick users into buying the software to remove (nonexistent) errors reported by it.
