Instructions for using W32.HybrisF Fix Tool
In order to ensure 100% detection/repair, this tool requires that your computer is restarted in DOS mode. It will not work correctly in a DOS window in Windows 95/98, Windows NT or Windows 2000.

After downloading, double-click on the icon. You will be presented with a dialogue box asking you to specify where you wish to unzip the tool. Choose a location. After unzipping the file, reboot into DOS mode, change to the directory where you unzipped and type the following at the command line prompt

fixhybf path

(where path represents the drive or directory where the files are to be scanned)

Alternately, users may type the following (instead of the path) to scan all drives except for floppies, for example:

fixhybf /a

The scan will take approximately 5-10 minutes, depending on the size of the hard drive.

After the scan is completed, some statistics will be shown. Statistics may vary, but will be displayed in the following format:

Scanned: XX, infected: XX, repaired: XX

All infected files should be repaired.

Are there other viruses to worry about?
New viruses are discovered everyday. Fortunately, of the 55,000+ known viruses, only a handful of them are in the wild. To find out which viruses are spreading the most quickly, check out the Top Threats listing on the SARC Web site. SARC will be working throughout the holidays to analyze new threats and updating our Web site accordingly. Please check back frequently to find out the latest.
