I don't always want to use the small screen of my laptop. Is there a safe way to connect my laptop to a regular-sized computer monitor?

When you buy newer laptops, you can often also purchase a "docking" station, a device that allows you to easily -- and safely -- snap your laptop into a device that is already connected to a large monitor, keyboard or printer, for example. Or if your model of laptop doesn't come with a docking station, you can buy the appropriate monitor cable that can connect safely your laptop to the larger screen. After connecting to the monitor, for a PC, use ctrl-F7 to toggle between your laptop monitor and your desktop monitor.
